John Kowalczyk is Vice President of Sales in Neuromodulation, Pain Solutions and Targeted Drug Delivery for Medtronic, Inc.—the world’s leading medical technology company. Prior to this role, John’s teams lead the sales and field services for all Neuromodulation products in the United States, including pain stimulation, drug delivery, deep brain stimulation and gastro/urinary therapies. John has been functioning in a VP of Sales role for various businesses since 2007.  His primary responsibility is to grow the top and bottom line, prepare for changing environments and set strategic direction for the Sales organizations he leads.

Since joining Medtronic in 1995, John has worked in a variety of positions that have equipped him with both the breadth and depth of knowledge necessary to successfully lead the Neuromodulation sales and field support functions. He began his career with Medtronic as a pain stimulation sales representative in Milwaukee and worked as a district manager for pain, movement disorders (including Deep Brain Stimulation) and for Medtronic’s Cardiac Disease Rhythm Management business. Before becoming the Vice President of Sales for Gastro/Uro and Deep Brain Stimulation, John was also the National Sales Director for InterStim and the Gastroenterology business. Prior to joining Medtronic, John worked for Synthes Spine as a Sales consultant and before that Allergan Pharmaceuticals.

In these roles, John has been recognized several times for his sales performance and leadership excellence. In 2009, John was honored with the prestigious Medtronic Wallin Leadership Award for his exceptional leadership and support of employee development. John is also a two-time President’s Club winner for outstanding sales performance. He also led several Sales teams who won Region of the Year.

John is the executive sponsor for EXCEL, Medtronic’s employee resource group for African American Sales Professionals.  He also serves as an advisor to the board of the National Sales Network.

John holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in international relations from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
